2019 Mitsubishi Outlander wins Kelley Blue Book "5-Year Cost to Own" award
CYPRESS, Calif. – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) the fastest-growing Asian brand in the U.S. for the second consecutive year*, today announced that the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander has been honored with the 2019 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Award in the three-row Mid-Size SUV/Crossover category.
The Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Awards honor vehicles and brands, both luxury and non-luxury, with the lowest projected ownership costs, based on Kelley Blue Book's 5-Year Cost to Own data for new cars over the initial five-year ownership period. The 2019 Outlander outperformed its competitors in one of the hottest vehicle segments today, the three-row mid-size crossover utility vehicle (CUV) segment.
"Outlander offers consumers one of the best value packages in an incredibly popular segment, and Kelley Blue Book's 5-Year Cost to Own Award is a testament to that value," said Mark Chaffin, COO, MMNA. "Boasting the lowest projected long-term operating costs in its segment, the Mitsubishi Outlander continues to impress consumers and offers the safety, dependability and conveniences they are looking for in a CUV."
Kelley Blue Book's 5-Year Cost to Own Awards take into consideration a variety of factors that contribute to vehicle expenses, including depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs and state fees for all new models. The award also helps new car shoppers make more informed purchasing decisions by breaking down typical ownership costs while recognizing the brands and models with the lowest projected five-year total.
"The Mitsubishi Outlander leads the Three-Row Mid-Size Utility segment due to its low depreciation and minimal state fees," said Eric Ibara, director of 5-Year Cost to Own for Kelley Blue Book. "The Outlander is currently the most affordable three-row vehicle on the market, and its low entry-price ultimately translates into lower depreciation. It also has the lowest amount of state fees in the segment and is relatively easy to finance in comparison to its competitors."
The Mitsubishi Outlander has received other notable industry recognitions, and was recently named an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK, when equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights**.
The 2019 Outlander includes new exterior enhancements to the headlamps and grille, and adds 18" alloy wheels. Improved quietness, suspension, handing and steering further increase overall ride comfort.
Each Outlander is also backed by Mitsubishi's 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile fully transferable New Vehicle Limited Warranty, a 7-year/100,000-mile Anti-Corrosion/Perforation Limited Warranty and 5-year/Unlimited Miles Roadside Assistance.
