Mitsubishi Motors Announces Fairway Mitsubishi Grand Opening

Father and son team delivers all-new automotive retail experience to Virginia Beach, Va.

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) announces the grand opening of Fairway Mitsubishi, the latest addition to its robust and growing dealer partner network and to its Visual Identity program, which delivers a state-of-the-art retail experience. Based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and owned by longtime area residents Tom Joynt, Sr., and son Tommy Joynt, Jr., the 8,500 square-foot facility at 3825 Bonney Road is a new-from-the-ground-up construction, completed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and will generate more than a dozen new jobs in the area.

"Developing this brand-new facility with my son Tommy is the realization of a dream for me," said Joynt, Sr. "Building a dealership from the ground up during COVID posed many challenges, but we fought through them, and today, we are proud to have created new job opportunities and to introduce Mitsubishi Motors, a brand known for its bold style and great value, to the Virginia Beach community."

Mitsubishi's Visual Identity program, introduced in 2019, enhances the customer experience through a high-quality retail environment, with a cool and muted color palette of black, grey and red accents, which matches the brand's iconic color scheme. The open, inviting and welcoming retail space ensures an exceptional experience for vehicle shoppers and owners, from purchase, through service, to trade-in and repurchase.

Joynt, Sr., who has been in automobile sales locally for 50 years, will host a private event this week to celebrate the official opening of Fairway Mitsubishi. MMNA President and CEO Yoichi Yokozawa, and local dignitaries, including acting Mayor Rosemary Wilson and Dee Oliver of the Virginia Beach Planning Commission, are expected to be in attendance.

Mitsubishi Motors celebrates 40 years of doing business in the U.S. this week, on Dec. 8, 2021. As the company looks forward to the next 40 years in the U.S. and beyond, momentum is building behind MMNA, with its brand-new North American headquarters opening in Nashville, Tenn. in April 2020, an all-new or significantly refreshed lineup of vehicles for the 2022 model year, highlighted by the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander, a robust and growing dealer partner network and record-breaking sales success.
