2004 Mitsubishi Galant - Recognition guide
The 2004 Mitsubishi Galant is a front-wheel-drive, five-passenger four-door sedan. In addition to a long list of standard features, the Galant's optional equipment can be configured to meet a broad range of budgets, helping to offer incredible flexibility.
Galant DE
The base-model Galant DE offers consumers a nicely equipped midsize sedan that combines handsome styling with a strong equipment level. The DE model includes the powerful new 2.4-liter MIVEC-enhanced four-cylinder motor, four-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel disc brakes. The Galant DE includes many popular features that add to the comfort and convenience of the vehicle, such as remote keyless entry with trunk opener, solar-control glass, height-adjustable driver's seat, power windows, locks and mirrors, electronic lockout protection, sun visors with built-in extensions, and a rear window defroster. Inside, the center stack contains controls for a 140-watt, four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system and electronic air conditioning. Safety features include advanced dual front airbags with dual-action inflator and seat position passenger occupant sensors, three-point seat belts for all five seating positions, child safety locks, and LATCH (Lower Anchor and Tethers for Children) system. For such an extensive standard equipment list, the Galant DE is economically priced at under $18,000.
Galant ES
The Galant ES adds sophistication and capability to the equipment found on the DE. The ES comes with an extensive list of appearance upgrades, including a sport mesh grille with chrome surround, color-keyed outer mirrors, and color-keyed body side moldings and door handles.
Inside, the ES sports a center high-mounted audio display, illuminated ignition key, titanium accent trim on the dashboard and door panels, and a driver's-side seatback pocket. The ES further adds a six-speaker CD audio system and cruise control. Galant ES buyers can customize the car to suit their tastes thanks to the extensive list of available options, which include a power sunroof that comes complete with a sunglasses holder and an integrated front map lamp, dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors, side-impact airbags, and antilock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD). The optional Diamond Package is composed of ten-spoke, 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels; a leather-wrapped steering wheel; titanium appearance audio panel and door accents; and a 270-watt Infinity audio system with six-disc CD changer, eight speakers in six locations, and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. For buyers who want even more luxury, the optional Leather Package includes heated leather seating surfaces, an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, rear seat heater, heated side view mirrors, and front seat-mounted side airbags. The Galant ES price range starts at approximately $19,000.
Galant LS
Thanks in large part to its 3.8-liter V6 engine mated to a four-speed Sportronic(TM) transmission, the Galant LS features a level of standard equipment that one would likely expect to find on a premium luxury sedan. The Galant LS is a refined, upscale midsize sedan that builds on the ES specification with some very well-chosen features and upgrades.
In addition to its exceptionally powerful standard engine, the LS features a specially tuned suspension, larger front ventilated disc brakes, and ABS with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and traction control. Also available on the Galant LS are features such as a power glass sunroof, driver and front-seat passenger side impact airbags, and the aforementioned Diamond Package and Leather Package. The Galant LS starts at the very attractive base price of approximately $21,000.
Galant GTS
The top-of-the-line GTS trim includes all the trappings found on the LS, and then some. Externally, the Galant GTS is distinguished by its unique four-bulb headlamps, dark chrome tail lamps, parabolic fog lamps, integrated rear spoiler, chrome-plated tailpipe, and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels wrapped with 215/55R17 V-rated all-season performance tires. Inside, the list of high-quality enhancements continues with standard leather seating, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, unique titanium-look accent panels, a sporty whiteface instrument panel, and special GTS embroidered floor mats. Mechanically, there's an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, driver and front-seat passenger side impact airbags, and the 270-watt Mitsubishi/Infinity audio system with six-disc CD changer that's available as an option on ES and LS trim levels. With such a long list of standard content, the only optional equipment on the GTS is the Cold Zone Package, consisting of seat heaters and heated side mirrors. The Galant GTS will be available for less than $26,000.
