FRANKLIN, Tenn., Nov. 12, 2024 – Long the world's best-selling all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid SUV1, the 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Is the perfect example of everything that has made the gasoline-powered Outlander so successful: bold styling, advanced vehicle architecture, award-winning interior2, seven-passenger convenience, and legendary Mitsubishi SUV capability. To this, the plug-in hybrid model adds Mitsubishi Motors' plug-in hybrid drivetrain boasting the power and torque a driver wants for accelerating or merging, strong all-electric range, and the latest and most sophisticated version of Mitsubishi's motorsport-derived Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC)3 all-wheel drive system.

For 2025, Outlander Plug-in Hybrid ups the near-luxury-at-an-affordable-price experience and adds heated front seats on all trims, and a standard panoramic sunroof and heated steering wheel on SEL trims.  Outlander Plug-In Hybrid is available in three main trim levels -- ES, SE and SEL -- with select packages available to add additional equipment to the base models. Consumers can learn more about the 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid at https://www.mitsubishicars.com/cars-and-suvs/Outlander-PHEV

From the entry-level 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid ES to the range-topping Platinum Edition, Mitsubishi's flagship model is the best-equipped, most connected vehicle the brand has ever sold in the U.S. Additionally, all trim levels offer up to 38 miles of all-electric range, up to 420 miles of overall range4, and SEL and above models are one of few mass-market plug-in hybrid electric vehicles with DC fast-charging capability on the CHAdeMo system, capable of filling the 20kWh battery pack to 80% capacity in just 38 minutes.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Driving on Snow Front 3/4

The Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is the perfect stepping-stone from today's internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to tomorrow's full battery-electric vehicles, as well as being the perfect destination model for many customers looking for the ability to charge at home with no range concerns on longer trips. Offering the range and ease of refueling of a conventional gasoline-fueled vehicle, and the clean and quiet motoring offered by an electric vehicle, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid answers the questions today's motorists have about tomorrow's technologies.

The 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid also features Mitsubishi's "Innovative Pedal" technology5, which allows near-one-pedal acceleration and deceleration, similar to full-battery electric vehicles. Unlike other applications, however, Mitsubishi engineers wanted to keep a similar feel to conventional gasoline vehicles' low-speed operation. Lifting off the brake pedal allows the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid to "creep" forward for parking and other maneuvers, as is common in any automatic transmission-equipped vehicle. In many applications of one-pedal operation, low-speed maneuvering can be a challenge and have Its own learning curve for smooth driving.

Bold Exterior and Refined, High-end Interior

The Outlander was crafted under a design theme described In Japanese as "I-Fu-Do-Do", which translates to "authentic and majestic". This can be seen in the bold proportions, muscular fenders, and chiseled lines, all of which start at the front with the latest iteration of Mitsubishi's "Dynamic Shield" grille. 18-inch alloy wheels are fitted to entry-level ES models, 20-inch wheels are fitted to all other trims and add a robust presence that emphasizes strength and security. Outlander appeals to a customer who wants to follow the road less-traveled, who Isn't looking to see themselves sitting at every traffic light. Mitsubishi customers are Individualists who pride experiences over "things", and Outlander's bold yet stylish look appeals directly to this.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Driver's Seat

Inside, Outlander Plug-in Hybrid places a premium on comfort and convenience with class-above materials across the range. ES and SE models offer standard-equipment fabric seating, while SEL models upgrade the experience to include diamond-quilt-stitched semi-aniline leather. Outlander Plug-in Hybrid features a Platinum Edition trim that can be added to SEL models for drivers to further personalize their electrified Outlander. To take things a step further, the Platinum trim adds a Black Diamond paint scheme to the exterior in combination with an Alloy Silver roof. Inside, light gray leather adorns the Platinum's cabin for a bright, upscale look and feel to match the exterior.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Third-Row Seat

While both the ICE and Plug-in Hybrid models of the Outlander are equipped with a third-row seat as standard equipment, the design and operation of the seats themselves differs. The rear-most seat is a 50/50 split in the ICE model, however the Plug-in Hybrid debuted a new design that folds the one-piece seatback forwards onto the cushion, then the whole assembly tumbles backwards into a deep well in the floor. All operation is light and simple and can be performed with only one hand.

Mitsubishi engineers and designers were able to develop the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid from the outset to be a three-row vehicle -- unlike Its predecessor - which is what allowed the vehicle to be one of the only mass-market plug-in hybrid SUVs to offer seating for seven passengers. Mitsubishi dubs this third row as an "occasional" seat, perfect for short trips, and the presence of a third row Is noted as a solid "why-buy" for many Outlander Plug-In Hybrid buyers.

When the seat Is not in use, it can be folded flat In the luggage-space floor, opening up 30.8 cu. ft. of cargo space.

Technology and Connectivity

Offering more technology and connectivity than any previous Mitsubishi model, the 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid features a standard 12.3-inch, full-color LCD digital driver display.

Capability and Confidence

The 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid rides on a cutting-edge platform developed through Mitsubishi Motors' partnership with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. While the underlying architecture was the result of this joint collaboration, all Outlander models were designed at Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's global design center In Japan, and all models are built at the company's production facility In Okazaki, Japan.

The modern vehicle architecture offers a solid foundation to provide a confident and comfortable driving experience. With hot-stamped, ultra-high tensile-strength steel used in key areas, torsional rigidity is increased by 33% over the previous-generation Outlander. A stiffer structure results in a vehicle that can allow Its suspension to operate as designed, absorbing road shocks and minimizing noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), without transferring Impacts and shocks to occupants.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV Powertrain

All models are equipped as standard with the newest generation of the brand's signature Super All-wheel Control (S-AWC)3 all-wheel drive system, allowing for greater vehicle control and increased driver confidence. The twin-motor system, utilizing the gasoline engine and front motor to drive the front wheels, and a stand-alone rear-mounted motor to drive the rear axle, boasts a combined 248-horsepower and 332 lb./ft of torque and achieves a 64 MPGe (miles-per-gallon equivalent) rating4. Part of the magic of the S-AWC system is that the rear electric motor is larger than the front, allowing for a confident feel for the driver.

S-AWC is motorsport-derived, being pioneered and developed on the rally track of the World Rally Championship and the desert dunes of the grueling Dakar Rally, where Mitsubishi remains the most successful manufacturer in n the history of the event, with 12 overall wins. The confidence S-AWC provides a driver Is one of many ways the Outlander Plug-In Hybrid sets Itself apart from competitors.
