S-AWC Super All Wheel Control - AYC (Active Yaw Control)
- Outline
AYC is a component system that enhancese cornering performance and vehicle stability by controlling the rear wheel torque differential using a torque transfer mechanism in the rear differential.
MMC introduced AYC, the first component system of its type in a production car, in August 1996. Switching from a bevel gear to a planetary gear differential in January 2003 doubled the amount of torque AYC was able to transfer.
