CORPORATE NEWS
Minnesota grandmother finds calling, keeps streets safe, accumulating 160,000 miles in a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
Minnesota grandmother Terry Krech has found her calling: delivering sober, safe and comfortable rides to Twin-Cities area residents in need. In two short years, Terry racked up 160,000 miles in her 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, driving between 150-250 miles each day, averaging 35 MPG, and providing more than 10,000 rides.
Despite all those miles, she's still driving, and recently traded in her 2018 Outlander PHEV for a 2020 model. Learn more about Terry's safe-ride mission and her high-mileage Outlander PHEV here.
414,000 miles in a Mitsubishi Mirage … and ready for more
Jerry and Janice Huot drove their 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage 414,000 miles – through six grueling winters in rural Minnesota – and the only reason they didn't go farther was a too-good-to-refuse offer from White Bear Mitsubishi dealer principal Richard Herod III to trade in the Plasma Purple sub-compact, dubbed the "Purple Won," for a new 2020 Mirage earlier this year.
On the road to 414,000 miles, Purple Won was a commercial delivery vehicle, hauled rocks and mulch for a landscaping project, and required nothing but standard maintenance. Read more about the Huots and their Purple Won here.
Mitsubishi Motors and Record the Journey Plug into Adventure and Community in 2020 Rebelle Rally "Small Batch – Big Impact" Film
Late last year, MMNA celebrated its 2020 Rebelle Rally team members with an inspirational and endearing message of community, interdependence and hope in our latest "Small Batch – Big Impact" film. The film chronicles the adventures of Record the Journey founder and team navigator Sergeant Major Rachael Ridenour and driver Master Sergeant Kristie Levy – both U.S. Army veterans with multiple combat deployments – as they make history by contesting the 2020 Rebelle Rally in an Outlander PHEV.
Affectionately nicknamed "Electra," the lightly modified Outlander PHEV is the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle ever to complete the grueling 10-day off-road event, which is the longest competition of its kind in the Lower 48 states.
