2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse - trimline guide
The 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse is a front-engine, front-wheel-drive, four-passenger two-door coupe that comes with a long list of standard features. The Eclipse can be configured with an extensive range of optional equipment to meet an equally wide range of requirements, from performance to luxury.
Eclipse GS
The new Mitsubishi Eclipse GS sporty coupe combines high performance, cutting-edge technology and handsome styling with a level of standard equipment features not normally found on vehicles in its price range. Under the hood is a 162-horsepower, 2.4-liter, 16-valve MIVEC four-cylinder engine that produces 162 lbs.-ft. of torque. Drivers have the choice of either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic(TM) mode, which provides sporty, positive-feeling manually actuated shifts with the simple push or pull of the shift lever. Other standard performance features include four-wheel disc brakes, an anti-lock braking system, 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels and 225/50R17 V-rated all season tires.
The Eclipse GS is loaded with popular comfort and convenience features such as remote keyless entry with trunk opener, solar-control glass, height-adjustable driver's seat, power windows and door locks, eight-way manually adjustable driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support, 50:50 split fold-down rear seatback and sport fabric interior. The intuitive center stack contains controls for a 140-watt, six-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system and electronic air conditioning.
Standard safety features include advanced driver and front passenger airbags with dual-action inflators and driver's seat position occupant sensors, front passenger seat occupant weight sensors, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and front side curtain airbags. Also there are front seat belt pre-tensioners, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, three-point seat belts for all four seating positions, and the LATCH (Lower Anchor and Tethers for Children) system for child seats.
An optional Sun & Sound Package is available for the Eclipse GS. It includes a power sliding sunroof, center display with outside temperature and compass, eletrochromatic rearview mirror and a premium 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system featuring nine speakers, including a 10-inch trunk-mounted subwoofer, digital signal processor, steering wheel audio controls, and an in-dash six-disc CD changer with MP3 playback capability.
Eclipse GT
The Eclipse GT, adding to the equipment level found on the GS, takes performance and sophistication to another level. The Eclipse GT features a level of standard equipment that one would likely expect to find on a premium sports car, thanks in large part to its 263-horsepower, 3.8-liter, 24-valve MIVEC V6 engine that generates 260 lbs.-ft. of torque. The engine, mated to either a six-speed manual or a five-speed Sportronic(TM) transmission, provides the sort of refined power delivery normally associated with cars costing thousands of dollars more.
Further adding to the Eclipse GT's superior level of content is a front strut tower bar, for decreased body roll and improved dynamic performance. Parabolic fog lamps and a large muffler cutter further distinguish the GT, and the MIVEC V6 is dressed in a red rocker cover with the MIVEC logo.
A Premium Sport Package also is available on the Eclipse GT. The package includes a power glass sliding sunroof with sunshade, power driver's seat, heated leather seating surfaces, auto climate control, heated side view mirrors and electrochromatic rearview mirror, aluminum pedals, 18-inch lipless aluminum alloy wheels with 235/45R18 V-rated tires, and the 650-watt Rockford Fosgate premium audio system.
Premium Audio
Mitsubishi Motors and Rockford Corporation have teamed up to offer a high fidelity/high output Rockford Fosgate audio system for the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse. A leader in aftermarket car audio systems for 25 years, Rockford Fosgate offers Eclipse buyers the first OEM personal sound-setting memory option, and their aggressive PUNCH(R) signature sound, delivering dynamic output with the high impact bass of a premium aftermarket system.
The Eclipse's optional premium audio system features 650-watt amplification with nine speakers including a 10-inch, long-throw subwoofer in a fiberglass reinforced bass-reflex-enclosure. The six-disc, in-dash CD changer also plays MP3 files.
In addition to the usual bass, midrange, treble, fader and balance controls, the Eclipse's advanced Digital Signal Processor (DSP) gives the user total control over the subwoofer PUNCH(R) level. There are six levels of subwoofer PUNCH(R) sound in the all-new Eclipse. It offers custom music genre equalizer settings and sound field image settings including: Normal, Stage, Live and Hall. The Rockford Fosgate system also offers an industry-first DSP sound setting memory function that allows users to configure all eight DSP settings and save them in six preset locations for their favorite CDs, artists or music genres.
For additional information on the sound system, review the audio release on the CD.
