Mitsubishi Motors is Most-Improved Brand in Reputation.com ‘2021 Automotive Reputation Report’

Mitsubishi Motors vaults to fourth place among 19 non-luxury brands in the US – a 58-point and 13-position improvement

Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) was the most improved U.S. brand in the “2021 Automotive Reputation Report” from Reputation, an analysis of 35,000 automotive OEM brands, dealer groups and dealerships across the United States, Canada and Europe. Mitsubishi Motors ranked fourth this year among 19 non-luxury automotive brands, climbing from 17th in 2020, and posting a 58-point improvement.

The report from Reputation analyzes customer feedback from dealerships to gauge overall sentiment and then assigns brands, dealer groups and dealerships a “Reputation Score” metric. Graded on a 1,000-point scale, the score encompasses the voice of the customer and highlights reputation management as a key element of a dealership’s consumer experience strategy.

“Today’s report from Reputation is a validation of the hard work and commitment of our dealer partners and MMNA’s customer experience team to ensure world-class sales and service experiences for every Mitsubishi customer,” said MMNA Senior Manager for Customer Experience, Kiri Kiely-Rodriguez. “With such a strong product portfolio and the backing of the industry’s best dealer partners, we are looking towards a bright future for Mitsubishi.”

Mitsubishi’s 58-point improvement in 2021 coincides with a new product initiative that has seen the freshening of the brand’s entire vehicle lineup in the last 18 months, highlighted by an all-new, award-winning flagship, the 2022 Outlander, and the redesigned 2022 Eclipse Cross. With customer experience as a central focus of the brand’s reinvention in the U.S., the performance of MMNA and its dealer partners in the 2021 Reputation study follows a similar 54-point improvement in 2020.

“After the disruption the automotive industry has faced this year — from pandemic uncertainty to surging demand — it’s more important than ever to deliver a positive consumer experience and manage online reputation,” said Jason Grier, chief customer officer, Reputation. “Mitsubishi has set itself apart in this regard, solidifying its reputation and ranking as one of the top industry leaders.”

Other recent brand accolades include the Outlander earning a Top Safety Pick+ designation by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and being named one of Wards 10 Best Interiors, and Mitsubishi being named the top-ranked mass market Japanese brand in the J.D. Power 2021 Initial Quality study.
