Mitsubishi Motors DENDO DRIVE HOUSE recognized as a 2019 HIVE 50 Innovator

Cypress, Calif. – Mitsubishi Motors, the fastest-growing Asian brand in the U.S. for the second consecutive year*, today announced its innovative DENDO DRIVE HOUSE (DDH) bi-directional charger home energy system was recognized as a HIVE 50 Innovator by Hanley Wood Magazine at its fourth-annual HIVE conference, held on December 4-5 in Austin, Texas.

The award honors companies that emphasize strength, functionality, and beauty within the building and construction industries. The 2019 Hive 50 award list recognizes people, products, and processes that are leading the charge to inspire creativity, improve performance, and explore better ways to build.

DDH, developed by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) in Japan is a packaged system consisting of a battery electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), a bi-directional charger, solar panels, and a storage battery that is designed for home use. The system was unveiled by MMC at the Geneva International Auto Show in March 2019.

This intelligent packaging allows the customer to charge their EV or PHEV vehicle at home using solar-generated power, or to supply electricity from their EV/PHEV vehicle to the home, depending on their power needs. DDH also offers homeowners the opportunity for cost savings on their electricity bills and can serve as a reliable source of battery backup power in the case of an emergency.

DDH also allows homeowners to reduce their carbon footprint by using the electricity generated by the solar panels to power their appliances, or charge up their EV or PHEV, for example.

While DDH is not yet available in the U. S., it is available for purchase by customers at select Mitsubishi Motors dealerships in Japan, with plans to offer it for sale in other select markets around the world in the coming months. The sale, installation and maintenance of the system and its various components are all handled directly by MMC.
